Thank you very much for your votes and interest in my Campaign for the US House race NC#2 for 2024, on to 2026!
My campaign for 2024 is now at an end. One of my opponents Retired Colonel Alan Swain has won the primary, and I now fully endorse him to move forward to November to retire Deborah Ross from Congress
All,
Congratulations to Retired Colonel Alan Swain for winning the Republican Primary this year 2024. I am bowing out and declaring my candidacy for the Republican Primaries in 2026. Like I did before after the results of my primary for Hawaii in 1998, led to my campaign for US Senate in Hawaii in 2000. As in both cases Democrats held those Congressional Seats.
In all these cases, my reasons for running did not (and have not) change(d)), as my reasons for running this year have NOT changed. I do not expect the dynamics in NC #2 to change much between now and 2026 either.
Should Alan win the general election in November, then I will no longer be a candidate in 2026, as I see no reason to run in a primary against a Republican opponent incumbent in that race. He will have my blessings to continue in Congress for as long as he sees fit.
All the best to Alan for the November election.
I hope that he as the Republican nominee for 2024, he will retire Rep Deborah Ross from Congress.
My thanks to all who worked for my candidacy to get out the vote and who voted for me in the election yesterday.
I am thankful to God that received more votes than the number I got in New Hampshire #2 in 2002, running against the RINO incumbent Rep Charles Bass.
DISTRICT 2 NH 2002
Bass, Charles R 61,473 86.38 %
Douglass, Eugene R 9,486 13.33 %
And for the primary in 2000 against a former Republican State Party Chair in Hawaii for US Senate
Carroll, J. 33,349 Former party chair
Douglass, E. 6,117
I did get more votes in 1998 for the Republican Primaries, coming in 3rd out of 9. Behind two democrats turned Republican for just that primary election to prevent my winning those primaries. The democrats in Hawaii often placed a ringer in to disrupt Republican primaries. It is likely they did the same in North Carolina this year as well, in more than one district.
Hawaii 1998
Young, Crystal R 26,920 28.12 Democrat changed to Republican
Friedheim, Jay Lawrence R 18,969 19.82 Democrat changed to Republican
Douglass, Eugene F. R 10,417 10.88
So, I am very thankful to all for your attention and for the votes I did receive.
