God’s Foundation for Marriage
Let us go back to Genesis to see God’s foundation for marriage and what the institution means. Genesis 2:18, 21-24 give us this foundation. “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him”, and “for this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh” If a man and a woman are truly ONE Flesh, they cannot be separated without damage to both. Only the death of one partner truly separates them without harm to either one, as death is a part of life, and it is God alone that sets the timing.
The Basis for Divorce
