Leaked Letter to Regents
This letter is encouraging at face-value to those who care for God’s Word and the education of people at Concordia, Wisconsin. But it is not a public response—it is written only to regents. We have no indication whether it was leaked by Pres. Harrison’s side or the CUWAA regents (or a more neutral party). Likely the former, because there is little to be gained by CUW highlighting their own pettiness, legal errors, and Harrison’s opposition to what has transpired. Yet, publicly, synod has done nothing still, even assuming that this is genuine, as it appears to be. A public statement or address to the church at large would be much more forceful.
The true errors of CUW are quite bad, as the letter notes. Dr. Schulz was not being an alarmist—perhaps he was underplaying just how bad things are there. The letter talks of “Bylaw violations, mission drift, faculty frustrations, and loss of trust from the Synod.” Those are not minor things.
