Climate Changes. It Always Has. My Position on “Climate Change.”
The Earth’s climate is not static. It never has been.
A great video, giving a summary of the appropriate truly scientific addressing of the issue of “Climate Change”
My position in opposition to the Climate Hysterics of Deborah Ross and her supporters. Sanity in science. I hope you find the below informative. - efd
We came out of the Little Ice Age in the 19th century — a period when rivers froze in Europe, crops failed, and glaciers advanced. Before that, much larger ice ages carved the Great Lakes and left the Sandhills of North Carolina as what used to be beachfront property. These weren’t political events. They were natural cycles driven by the sun, ocean currents, volcanic activity, and orbital changes.
The warming we’ve seen since the mid-1800s is real. Some of it is the planet recovering from that colder period. The rest is debated — how much is natural variability versus human influence. What is not debated by anyone honest is that the doomsday predictions of the 1970s (“new ice age”), 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s have repeatedly failed to materialize on the timelines promised.
I reject the communist version of climate change — the one that demands we destroy reliable energy, ship manufacturing to China, raise taxes on working families, and hand more power to bureaucrats in the name of “saving the planet.” That version is not about science. It’s about control.
North Carolina doesn’t need lectures from people who want to kill our energy jobs, raise our power bills, and make us more dependent on foreign supply chains while they fly private jets to climate conferences. We need practical stewardship: real environmental protection without economic self-sabotage, innovation in nuclear and advanced energy, and honest adaptation instead of hysterical mitigation that hurts the poor first.
Watch the video linked above for some actual historical and geological perspective the next time Deborah Ross or her allies start screaming about the latest “existential threat” that requires us to surrender more freedom and money.
The climate changes. Human beings have always adapted. The question is whether we adapt intelligently — or whether we let ideologues use climate as the latest excuse to run our lives.
God gave us a resilient planet and resourceful minds. Let’s use both.
